Noor Mohammadi Hotel

I was craving for some authentic lucknow style cuisine since days but did not want to end up at Bade Miyan again. I was quite worried as to what place should I shortlist for the day but then the Hamlet soliloquy came into my mind and I straight away headed towards the local train. Somewhere in my mind I must have selected my spot by then and that must have been the famous Soorti Barah Haandi, because I was there at Bhendi Bazaar. To my disappoint the place was closed and so while I was looking out for some other joint my cab driver told me to try out this shady place. Noor Mohammadi Hotel looks very well suited to the kind of colony it's located in, unlike Shalimar that stands just beside it and that is very elegant and going good with its family stereotype. Noor Mohammadi has a limited menu. It is specifically recommended for those who prefer beef. In the lamb section it just had Mutton chap and mutton payas. I had a bit of both with the chapatis, the kind that is peculiar in the middle east. Mutton was good. The stuff was very juicy and the curry was full of spices. You can also try out the keema but they keep it for the breakfast only. They also have "sookha pulao" which is a typical thick gravy rice and ofcourse a beef item so I didnt taste it but still it looked good. I will not recommend the "ghee dal" ( fried tur dal with a spoon full of desi ghee) because I could not find any dal in it.In dessert they have "Pherni" which you should definitely have if you are here. I was told that the place is jam packed during ramzaan seasons and they get some additional items listed on the menu for those special occasions.

The place looked disappointing. Ambience wise it is definitely not good. Families can not enjoy at Noor mohammadi. Taste of the food was good.Although they have only few items they know how to add taste into them. Pricing- very very cheap. Food for two will only cost you around 200 bucks.Location: From CST take a right turn towards mohammad ali road, cross the fly over and look out for the famous shalimar hotel. My take will be that you should go to this place once if you are anywhere close to the Fort area. That way the experience will not be that disheartening.
